DevelopSpace information principles

Information to be shared such that it can be:

1) Viewed, read, used by all users

2) Allow users to freely share and distribute the information

3) Distribute information in a manner that allows users to manipulate and edit the information

4) Distribute underlying models, tools, and data sources to allow users to expand upon these underlying elements 5) Distribute material in open, non-proprietary formats to enable its broadest distribution and use

5) To the extent practical, make use of references which can be freely viewed, and ideally distributed, and aid in the users access to such material

6) Maintain referential persistence

Supporting tools should be:

1) Broadly available

2) Available at no cost

3) Make use of an open format

4) Available under open source / free software license

File distribution

--> okay to have an "opaque" version (where editing is difficult), along with the master, "transparent" version (which is setup to be edited directly) --> example -- png image, vs. drawing file

No restrictions on field or type of use -- e.g., distribution cannot be restricted to non-commercial uses

1) List of relevant licenses; what types accomplish which of the principles outlined above
